A moment of pause

Try this - 

The next time you are standing in line waiting for a coffee, in the carpool line waiting to pick up your kid, at the doctor's office waiting for your name to be called, standing by the stove waiting for the water to boil.... pause. 

Take a slow, deep breath, maybe even close your eyes for a moment. 

Listen to your surroundings. Listen and acknowledge, but don't judge. (If you find you are judging, or feeling annoyed or angry or any emotion - shrug it off with another slow breath). 

Notice the aroma of your environment, and the way your body feels right now. 

Return your focus to your breath. 

Go "aaaaaahh" (in the soothing way, not the "I'm going to lose it" kind of "aah") 

Return to what you were doing. 

You just gave yourself a a 30sec time out and believe it or not that small break in your day can make a world of a difference!
